All token holders are able to purchase a signed print of the Steps mint they currently own by filling out this form.
Signed prints are not single edition: if you sell your Steps token, the new owner is eligible to purchase a print as well.

Prints were a core part of the vision behind Steps from the very beginning. After doing some test prints with a couple of local shops, I decided to invest in a printer and handle things myself. This makes it possible to do more experimentation with paper and colors, and make sure each print that comes out of the studio meets a high standard of quality. I love the ritual of printing, trimming and packaging, and try to be present for every step of the process with care and intention.

print details

Prints are created in my studio located in the East Bay near San Francisco, California. The paper used is Canson Infinity Edition Etching Rag (310 gsm, 100% cotton) which has a matte finish and subtle texture. After trying several types of paper, I chose this one as it provides just the right amount of texture, and slightly darkens the digital colors which nicely grounds the prints. The printer used is the Epson P900. Here are some pictures of an actual print, with a close-up so you can see the paper texture.

The back of the print is hand-signed on the bottom right with a mechanical pencil. The mint number and hash are printed on the bottom left.

Size & Price

Three sizes are available:

  • Small: 8.5" x 11" (21.6cm x 28cm) — $50
  • Medium: 13" x 17" (33cm x 43.2cm) — $80
  • Large: 17" x 22" (43.2cm x 55.9cm) — $100

If your particular Steps token's Size Category feature is "Micro", I would recommend opting for Medium or Large so the print has enough physical space to showcase the details. Note that the Small and Medium prints include a 0.5-inch (1.27cm) margin on each side, while the Large ones have a 1-inch (2.54cm) margin. This is done to give greater flexibility for framing, and minimize the amount of paper trimming required.

The payment can be done in USDC, ideally from the wallet holding the Steps token. Payment in fiat is also possible via PayPal or Stripe. On top of the prices listed above, there is an additional shipping cost that varies based on size, and US vs International (I still need to estimate these costs properly, but I imagine it'll range from $5-10 for Small in the US, to $30 or so for Large International). If you're not able to pay from the wallet holding the token, you'll need to send a signed message from that wallet to verify ownership as part of the order form.

If you are the owner of one of the first 50 mints (#1 through #50) your mint comes with a free signed print at the size you choose (excluding the shipping fees). This offer is only available once per token. If you sell or give away your Steps token, the new owner will be eligible to purchase a print as well, but will not be eligible for this offer if it has already been claimed. To take advantage of the offer, you must hold your Steps token until you receive your shipping tracking number. Here is the list of mints #1-50 for which the free signed print offer has already been claimed: #2, #3, #5, #8, #11, #12, #16, #19, #22, #23, #27, #33, #41, #43, #44.

Order form

Please fill out this order form to purchase a signed print of your Steps token. You'll need to provide information required for printing & delivery such as name, mailing address, email, print size and token number. Thank you!

framing

Prints are shipped unframed. I'd suggest a thin frame in white, light wood like maple, or black depending on the color palette of your Steps token. For matting, I'd try a 1 to 2-inch (2.5 to 5cm) white mat that goes over the print's margin so it is flush with the actual art. The end result would look something like the mocks below.

unsigned open edition

Since prints have been central to the vision for this project, it felt important to find a way to allow non-token holders to order a print if they'd like. To do so, a curated selection of outputs outside of the minted set are available to order here. The selection is complementary to the minted set by highlighting certain aspects of the algorithm that might not have come up, as well as other parts of the code that didn't make it into the final version. These are unsigned, unlimited edition, and don't have the hash number printed on the back. Similarly to the token-limited prints, they are available in three sizes. I print and package them with the same care as for signed prints.

Thank you so much for your interest in ordering a print. It fills me joy to imagine some of these in people's homes!
